Set up Safa in Microsoft Teams
Chat with Safa in Microsoft Teams. Send invoices in your personal chat with Safa, and get the UAE VAT treatment for each invoice and an Excel file of the batch.
What you need
- A Safa account on the Safa Connectors plan. Create one here. You need your name, your email and an authenticator app on your phone. New accounts start with 5 free invoices, no card needed.
- Early access. Safa Connectors is open to a small group for now. Your email must be on the access list to link your account. If it is not, join the waiting list or email hello@safa-ai.com.
- Your Teams admin adds Safa for your organisation. Safa is not in the Teams Store yet, so an admin uploads the Safa app once.
Safa works in your personal chat with Safa. It does not work in channels or group chats.
For your Teams admin: add Safa
- Download the Safa Teams app: https://mcp.safa-ai.com/teams/package.zip. It is also on the Connectors page in the Safa web app.
- In the Teams admin center, open Teams apps, then Manage apps, then Upload new app, and upload the file.
- Allow the app for the right people, with an app permission policy or the organisation-wide default.
Safa shows up in Teams within a few hours. The app asks for no Microsoft Graph permissions and no admin consent. When Safa releases a new version, the admin uploads the new file as an update.
Link your Safa account
- In Teams, open Apps, find Safa and open it.
- Send Safa a message with an invoice attached.
- The first time, Safa replies with a card and a link to connect your Safa account.
- Enter your Safa email, then the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. A backup code also works.
- Click Link. Go back to Teams and send your invoices again.
The link works for 30 minutes. If it expires, message Safa for a new one.
Check your invoices
- Send Safa PDFs, photos (PNG or JPG) or a ZIP file, attached with the paperclip.
- You can send up to 20 files of up to 25 MB each, and up to 50 invoices per message.
- Add "for" and a company name to choose the company, for example "for Acme Trading".
- Add a few words such as "November bills" to name the analysis. Otherwise Safa names it from the invoices.
Safa shows that it is typing, then a status card with its progress. When it is done, you get the VAT treatment for each invoice and the reason for it. If one of your company's VAT settings decided a result, Safa says which one. Safa then offers the Excel file of the batch. Click Allow to save it to your OneDrive, or Decline.
Each document Safa reads and gives a VAT treatment counts as one invoice. Files that are not invoices are marked unrecognised and do not count.

Your data
Teams messages reach Safa through the Microsoft Bot Service, which runs on Microsoft's global network. Safa keeps your analyses and their files for 90 days, then deletes them. The Excel file is saved to your OneDrive only when you click Allow. Read the connectors privacy policy and the privacy policy for the details.
