Set up Safa in Claude
Safa works inside Claude as a connector. You drop invoices into the Safa upload area in a chat. Safa returns the UAE VAT treatment for each invoice, and Claude summarises the results. It works on claude.ai, in Claude Desktop and in the Claude mobile app.
What you need
- A Safa account on the Safa Connectors plan. Create one here. You need your name, your email and an authenticator app on your phone. New accounts start with 5 free invoices, no card needed.
- Early access. Safa Connectors is open to a small group for now. Your email must be on the access list. If it is not, join the waiting list or email hello@safa-ai.com.
- A Claude account that can add custom connectors. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner may need to add Safa for your organisation first.
An account on Safa's web app plan (for ERP checks) cannot sign in from Claude. The connectors use their own plan.
Connect Safa to Claude
- In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
- Paste this URL: https://mcp.safa-ai.com/mcp
- Keep the defaults: Sign in now and Use Claude's published identity.
- Claude opens the Safa sign-in page. Enter your Safa email, then the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. A backup code also works.
- Check what Claude will be allowed to do, then click Allow.
Claude can now use Safa in any chat. You only sign in once. Claude stays signed in while you keep using it.
Check your invoices
- Start a chat and ask, for example: "What VAT treatment should this invoice have?"
- Claude opens the Safa upload area in the chat. Choose the company, if you have more than one.
- Drop in PDFs, photos (PNG or JPG) or a ZIP file. You can send up to 20 files of up to 25 MB each, and up to 50 invoices at a time.
- Click Analyse. The upload area shows progress, for example "Analysing 3 of 10".
- When it is done, Claude summarises the results.
For each invoice you get the VAT treatment and the reason for it. If one of your company's VAT settings decided the result, Safa says which one. Click Download Excel for a workbook of the whole batch.
Tips:
- Name a batch in the upload area, or tell Claude, for example, "these are my November bills".
- Ask Claude to list your recent analyses, add a company, or change a company's VAT settings.
- Every analysis also appears in the Safa web app under Recent analyses.
Each document Safa reads and gives a VAT treatment counts as one invoice. Files that are not invoices are marked unrecognised and do not count.
Disconnect or remove Safa
- Sign Claude out of Safa: in the Safa web app, open Connectors and click Disconnect on the Claude card. Claude asks you to sign in again next time.
- Remove the connector from Claude: in Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, choose Safa and remove it.
- Delete your results: delete an analysis in the Safa web app under Recent analyses. Otherwise Safa deletes analyses after 90 days.
If you cancel your plan, Claude is signed out and your account goes back to the free allowance. Credits you bought stay valid.
Troubleshooting
- "Safa Connectors is open to a small group for now": your email is not on the access list yet. Join the waiting list or email hello@safa-ai.com.
- "No Safa account with this email": create an account, then sign in from Claude again.
- "This account has no active Safa Connectors plan": your account is on Safa's web app plan, which does not include the connectors. Email hello@safa-ai.com and we will help.
- "Finish setting up your authenticator app": sign in to the Safa web app and finish the authenticator setup first.
- "This sign-in link has expired": start again from Claude.
- The upload area does not appear: check that the Safa connector is turned on for this chat, then ask again.
- A file is refused: Safa takes PDF, PNG, JPG and ZIP files, up to 25 MB each and 20 files per batch. Split larger batches.
- You are out of invoices: Claude says so and links to billing. Choose a plan or buy invoice credits.
- Claude asks you to sign in again: this happens after you disconnect, after your plan ends, or after about 30 days without use. Sign in again.

Your data
Safa keeps your analyses and their files for 90 days, then deletes them. Claude also sees the results, as part of your Claude conversation. Read the connectors privacy policy and the privacy policy for the details.
